2017 Laureus World Sports Awards - Montecarlo

ENGLISH EDITION - First of all I would like to thank you very much for supporting and voting from my blog's links, the Laureus Sports Awards videos: it was an amazing and beautiful experience and I thank you all for the words of praise we have received as official Laureus blog. Our aim was to boost the wonderful Laureus videos visibility which they well represent the true spirit of sport and the world of Laureus Foundation.

ITALIAN EDITION - Prima di tutto grazie per avermi supportato così tanto e aver votato dai miei link ai video dei Laureus Sport awards: è stata un’esperienza bellissima e vi ringrazio tutti per le parole di encomio che abbiamo ricevuto come Blog dal Laureus per il supporto che abbiamo dato per amplificare la visibilità dei meravigliosi video che rappresentano più di tutti il vero spirito sportivo e del mondo della Laureus Foundation.

ENGLISH EDITION - We left each other in Monte Carlo and today,  after so many travels that did not allow me a moment of rest,  I am back to tell you a wonderful dream night, broadcasted by Sky platform too.The Valentine's day was the day of the Awards, but the event had a very interesting prelude the night before, when at Cipriani Hotel in Montecarlo, I was invited to an exclusive meeting with Edwin Moses, CEO of Laureus America, and some other important personalities of Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.


ITALIAN EDITION - Ci eravamo lasciati con un arrivederci a Montecarlo ed ecco oggi dopo tanti viaggi che non mi hanno permesso un attimo di riposo, eccovi il resoconto di una meravigliosa notte da sogno andata in diretta anche sulla piattaforma Sky. Il giorno di San valentino è stato il giorno della premiazione degli Awards, ma l’evento ha avuto un preludio molto interessante la sera prima, quando al Cipriani di Montecarlo sono stata invitata ad un incontro esclusivo con Edwin Moses ceo del Laureus America e alcune personalità importantissime del Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.

ENGLISH EDITION - The spirit of the event is well exposed in the story that we could hear from the voice of a young man who told us his personal experience related to Laureus. Thanks to the sport and to the foundation he was able to redeem his life and from a remote village in Africa he was able to reach Monte Carlo and live a new life thanks to the projects carried out by Laureus Foundation which help disadvantaged young people worldwide.

ITALIAN EDITION - Lo spirito dell’evento è racchiuso nel racconto che abbiamo potuto ascoltare dalla viva voce di un giovane che ci ha raccontato la sua personale esperienza legata al Laureus in cui grazie allo sport e alla fondazione è riuscito a riscattare la sua vita e da un luogo remoto dell’Africa ed è potuto arrivare a Montecarlo e vivere una nuova vita grazie ai progetti portati avanti da Laureus foundation per aiutare i giovani svantaggiati del mondo.

ENGLISH EDITION - The Laureus event is a totally "immersive" experience, in which the sport world champions celebrate together the sport and its true value.

ITALIAN EDITION - L’evento Laureus più in generale, è una esperienza totalmente “immersiva”, in cui i campioni mondiali dello sport “insieme “celebrano lo sport e il suo vero senso sportivo.

ENGLISH EDITION - For this reason, every year personalities who have excelled in sports or did a truly sporting gesture which offers a cross section of the  sport excellence showing young people the true sportsmanship of life, are reworded.

ITALIAN EDITION - Per questa ragione vengono premiati ogni anno personaggi che si sono distinti nello sport per alcune motivazioni e per dei gesti realmente sportivi che insieme offrono uno spaccato delle eccellenze che possono indicare ai giovani il vero senso sportivo della vita.

ENGLISH EDITION - The show, presented by actor Hugh Grant and Kate Abdo a television sports journalist, went live for a couple of hours. The tables where we were sitting, similar to sweets traps where we could not move due to the constraints imposed by television rules, were arranged in a way that you can watch the show from every corner.

ITALIAN EDITION - Presentato dall’attore Hugh Grant e da Kate Abdo, giornalista sportiva televisiva, lo show, una diretta tv ed una cena, è andato in diretta per un paio d’ore. I tavoli in cui eravamo seduti, molto più simili a dolci trappole, dati i vincoli televisivi che imponevano di non potersi muovere, erano disposti in maniera da poter assistere allo spettacolo da ogni punto di vista.

ENGLISH EDITION - Among the tables, champions and celebrities,  I could observe some details that television probably may fail to show. It was a growing of emotions that exploded in celebrating the Paralympic champion Bebe Vio who, with her words and her love for life showed everyone how sport can do for your entire life. The real meaning of this event can be enclosed in the tears mix with applause of all guests in standing ovation to thank Bebe who gave them all as a gift her energy for life.

ITALIAN EDITION - Tra i tavoli, fra campioni e celebrities ho potuto osservare particolari inediti che la televisione forse non riesce a mostrare. E’ stato un crescere di emozioni che sono esplose nel celebrare la campionessa paraolimpica Bebe Vio che con le sue parole e la sua voglia di vivere ha dimostrato a tutti quanto lo sport può fare per la vita, e quanto il significato di questo evento si possa racchiudere in quelle lacrime tutti gli ospiti della serata hanno mescolato ad un applauso in standing ovation per ringraziare Bebe della sua voglia di vivere che è riuscita a regalare.

ENGLISH EDITION - I can not dwell on the beauty and majesty of Princess Charlene who showed a class and a style that closely seem even higher than those seen in the camera, and I can not dwell on the empathy that Prince Albert transmits with his presence and his physicality. 

ITALIAN EDITION - Non posso non soffermarmi sulla bellezza e la regalità della principessa Charlene che ha mostrato una classe ed uno stile che da vicino sembrano ancora superiori a quelli visti in telecamera, e non posso non soffermarmi sulla empatia che il principe Alberto trasmette con la sua presenza e al sua fisicità.  Certamente non ci poteva essere luogo e momento migliore per celebrare i 10 anni di un evento che proprio a Montecarlo è nato e da questo incredibile luogo ha viaggiato in giro per il mondo vedendo crescere la sua importanza anno per anno.

ENGLISH EDITION - Certainly there could be no better time and place to celebrate the 10th anniversary of an event that  was born in Monte Carlo and from this incredible location has traveled around the world growing up and enhancing its importance from year to year.

ENGLISH EDITION - The event therefore, similar to Oscar of the cinema but fortunately shorter, was the opportunity to reward various sports Symbols and Champions... among them I want to emphasize the awards that I liked much more for their sporting essence, and I show you my personal list of all the winners:

ENGLISH EDITION - 1 - DISABLED ATHLETE OF THE YEAR (Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability) - Bebe Vio (Italy, fencing) - Paralympic Champion in Rio 2016, already famous for a selfie with Obama. She received the award from the hands of Alessandro Del Piero.

ITALIAN EDITION - 1 - SPORTIVO DISABILE DELL’ANNO (Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability) – Bebe Vio (Italia, scherma) – Campionessa Paraolimpica a Rio 2016, già famosa per il selfie “rubato” a Obama di cui ho già raccontato che ha ricevuto il premio dalle mani di Alessandro Del Piero.

ENGLISH EDITION - 2 - SPORT FOR GOOD award (The Laureus Sport for Good Award) - delivered by David Coulthard at the Olympic Team of Refugees, a team of refugees athletes which participated for the first time to Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in 2016, thanks to an initiative of the International Olympic Committee, which set up the team looking for the athletes in the refugee camps in the world  bringing  the attention on the global refugee crisis and "act as a symbol of hope for refugees"

ITALIAN EDITION - 2 - SPORT PER IL BENE (The Laureus Sport for Good Awards) – consegnato da David Coulthard al Team Olimpico dei Rifugiati , una squadra di atleti rifugiati che ha partecipato per la prima volta ai Giochi olimpici alla XXXI Olimpiade di Rio de Janeiro (Brasile) nel 2016  grazie un'iniziativa del Comitato Olimpico Internazionale che ha messo in piedi la squadra cercando fra i campi profughi nel mondo i possibili atleti, per portare attenzione sulla crisi globale dei rifugiati e "agire come simbolo di speranza per i rifugiati"

ENGLISH EDITION - 3 - SPORTING SPIRIT award (Laureus Spirit of Sport) - Leicester City FC (England, Football). Delivered by Fabio Capello to Claudio Ranieri, the man who achieved the feat of turning the struggle for salvation in winning the Premier League.

ITALIAN EDITION - 3 - SPIRITO SPORTIVO (Laureus Spirit of Sport) – Leicester City FC (Inghilterra, calcio). Consegnato da Fabio Capello a Claudio Ranieri, l’uomo che ha realizzato l’impresa di trasformare la lotta per la salvezza nella conquista della Premier League.

ENGLISH EDITION - 4 - BEST MOMENT OF THE YEAR award (Laureus Best Sporting Moment of the Year) - FC Barcelona U12 (Spain, Football). Award delivered by Carlos Puyol at the club's youth team thanks to the incredible video where Spanish children consoled their Japanese colleagues defeated after the game.

ITALIAN EDITION - 4 - MOMENTO DELL’ANNO (Laureus Best Sporting Moment of the Year) – FC Barcellona U12 (Spagna, calcio). Premio consegnato da Carlos Puyol alla squadra giovanile del club catalano grazie all’incredibile video in cui i bambini spagnoli consolavano i loro colleghi giapponesi sconfitti a fine partita.

ENGLISH EDITION - 5 - TEAM OF THE YEAR award (Laureus World Team of the Year) - Chicago Cubs (USA, baseball). They  won the American championship after 108 years.  Edwin Moses gave the award to the team owner Tom Ricketts.

ITALIAN EDITION - 5 - premio SQUADRA DELL’ANNO (Laureus World Team of The Year) – Chicago Cubs (USA, baseball). Che hanno vinto il campionato americano dopo 108 anni. E in cui Edwin Moses ha consegnato il premio a Tom Ricketts il proprietario del Team.

ENGLISH EDITION - 6 - Laureus Sport for Good Award at the Waves for Change project, which helps with the surf young people from the most violent communities in South Africa.

ITALIAN EDITION - 6 - Laureus Sport for Good Award al progetto Waves for Change, che aiuta con il surf i giovani delle comunità più violente del Sud Africa.

ENGLISH EDITION - 7 - SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR (Laureus World Sportsman of the Year) - Usain Bolt (Jamaica, athletics). The fastest man in the world, the lighting Bolt, who improvised a little dance show with former world champion in the same discipline Michael Johnson.

ITALIAN EDITION - 7 - SPORTIVO DELL’ANNO (Laureus World Sportsman of the Year) – Usain Bolt (Giamaica, atletica leggera). L’uomo più veloce del Mondo, il jet umano che ha improvvisato un piccolo dance show insieme all’ex campione del mondo della stessa disciplina Michael Johnson.

ENGLISH EDITION - 8 - SPORTSWOMAN OF THE YEAR (Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year) - Simone Biles (USA, gymnastics 4 gold medals in Rio 2016) who received the award from Nadia Comaneci and Prince Albert of Monaco.

8 - SPORTIVA DELL’ANNO (Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year) – Simone Biles (USA, ginnastica artistica 4 ori a rio 2016) che si è vista consegnare il premio da Nadia Comaneci e dal Principe Alberto di Monaco.

ENGLISH EDITION - 9 - COMEBACK OF THE YEAR award (Laureus World Comeback of the Year) - Michael Phelps (USA, Swimming) Man of records in the pool, the most medalled man in history who won again in Rio 2016. He received the award from Boris Becker, a world tennis champion.

ITALIAN EDITION - 9 - premio RITORNO DELL’ANNO (Laureus World Comeback of the Year) – Michael Phelps (USA, nuoto) L’uomo dei record nella piscina, con più medaglie della storia che ha rivinto ancora a Rio 2016 che ha ricevuto il premio dal campione del mondo di tennis Boris Becker.

ENGLISH EDITION - 10 - REVELATION OF THE YEAR award (Laureus World Breakhtrough of the Year) - Nico Rosberg (Germany, Formula 1) who told about the memories of his first Laureus experience celebrated in Montecarlo where  he was looking to the champions  while attending to the event. He was awarded by world champion Emerson Fittipaldi.

ITALIAN EDITION - 10 - premio RIVELAZIONE DELL’ANNO (Laureus World Breakhtrough of the Year) – Nico Rosberg (Germania, Formula 1) che ha raccontato dei ricordi del suo primo Laureus celebrato a Montecarlo in cui osservava i campioni giungere all’evento, ed è stato premiato dal campione del mondo Emerson Fittipaldi.

ENGLISH EDITION - 11 - ATHLETE OF THE YEAR IN  ACTION SPORTS award  (Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year) delivered to Rachel Atherton (Great Britain, cycling) world champion mountain biker who also dominated the World Cup. She received the award from Taig Khris, three-time aerobatic rollerblade world champion.

ITALIAN EDITION - 11 - premio ATLETA DELL’ANNO IN SPORT D’AZIONE (Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year) consegnato a Rachel Atherton (Gran Bretagna, ciclismo) Campionessa del Mondo di mountain bike che ha anche dominato la Coppa del Mondo dalle mani di Taig Khris, tre volte campione del mondo di rollerblade acrobatico.
