Paris and the Roland Garros with it, is an international tournament but steeped in French style, which has transformed the excitement and class of an elite sport in a time and cultural and also mass phenomenon, which has exalted its origins and pure sporting nature.
In a certain sense, tennis is a way of understanding life, in which personal values and the ability to fight on an equal footing with the opponent, without superstructures or compromises count. And whoever wins is the best and does in a loyal way, according to precise rules: all this, in a certain way, holds the secret that is transformed into a way of life and passion for this sport.It may be the charm of Paris, the red earth in which you play, or the location of the tournament, but the spaces of the International Tennis of Roland Garros seem much more similar to those of a park dedicated to this sport.Compared to the Madrid tournament, Paris appears in all its aesthetic grandeur but also in its emotional and narrative strength that shows itself in all its beauty, right from the arrival around the stadium, where everything looks wonderfully organized and relaxing.
After passing the security checkpoints, you find yourself in a space dedicated to tennis, which seems to have been transported from Disneyland to the center of Paris. The structure is composed of various playgrounds, and various stadiums that make up a sort of physical and visual celebration of the world, life, and style of tennis itself.
The tournament that gathers around itself spectators from all over the world, lives and breathes this moment of celebration, with a class, a style that makes you feel happy to be there, and makes you understand how tennis remains one of the few examples of style of sport in modern times.
The Roland Garros lounge, the memorabilia boutiques scattered around playgrounds, the large walls with the Roland Garros logo, full of guests engaged in an inexhaustible race of selfie, have shown how sport can become a wonderful occasion for celebration in which the physical experience, made of real sociality, counts more and more to the point of returning to be important in everyone's personal lives.
Being together, living a common experience, returns to be central as a value, and I can smile remembering the space inside the Roland Garros, where hundreds of people lying on deck chairs, found themselves together to watch the final on a big screen like so as a group of friends at the bar.
I was struck by this scene because it showed how in the end, in this digital world still counts man and his physicality to make the moment unique and alive.
Moving on to the purely sporting aspect, this was for me an even more important occasion, because I was able to attend my first women's final of a Grand Slam tournament, where Australian Ashleigh Barty won against Czechoslovak Marketa Vondrousova in two sets 6-1, 6-3.
I'm not a specialist in the sector, and I can't give technical judgements, but what I can tell you is the sound of the ball, hit by the racquet, in which you could hear the mastery that gave Barty the deserved victory that from being the number eight in the world, has reached the second place in the world rankings.

La finale femminile del Roland Garros 2019 è stata l’ultima scusa che mi sono inventata, per ritornare in una Parigi dove sempre di più, sento il bisogno di andare per scoprire e catturare piccoli frammenti di una città che ogni giorno, sa regalare attimi di poesia e di “grandeur”.
Qui a Parigi il controllo del tempo pare gestito dal vento: scrosci improvvisi di pioggia, raggi di sole, folate di vento trasformano rapidamente una “primavera autunnale” in una “estate invernale”, tanto che non hai neanche il tempo di aprire l’ombrello che ti ritrovi a sudare sotto un sole che splende.
E’ la furia tipicamente “Francese” di una “art de vivre” che i Parigini sanno gestire con una profonda naturalezza e che in un certo senso sa esprimere la particolarità di una città internazionale, dove anche una partita di Tennis sa essere diversa e unica, come proprio lo stile “Francese” che sa costruire bellezza moderna, intorno ad ogni occasione.
Sarà il fascino di Parigi, della terra rossa in cui si gioca, o la location del torneo, ma gli spazi degli internazionali di tennis del Roland Garros sembrano molto più simili a quelli di un parco dedicato a questo sport.
Rispetto al torneo di Madrid, Parigi appare in tutta la sua grandeur estetica ma anche nella sua forza emotiva e narrativa che si mostra in tutta la sua bellezza, già dall’arrivo intorno allo stadio, dove tutto appare meravigliosamente organizzato e rilassante.
Superati i checkpoint di sicurezza, ci si ritrova in uno spazio dedicato al tennis, che sembra stato trasportato da Disneyland al centro di Parigi. La struttura è composta da vari campi di gioco, e da vari stadi che compongono una sorta di celebrazione fisica e visiva del mondo, della vita, e dello stile del tennis stesso.
Il torneo che raccoglie introno a sé spettatori provenienti da tutto il mondo, vive e respira questo momento di festa, con una classe, uno stile che ti fare sentire felice di esserci, e ti fa capire come il tennis resti uno dei pochi esempi di stile dello sport nei tempi moderni.
La lounge del Roland Garros, le boutiques di memorabilia disseminate intorno a campi di gioco, le grandi pareti logate Roland Garros, piene di ospiti impegnati in una gara inesauribile di selfie, hanno mostrato come lo sport possa diventare una meravigliosa occasione di festa in cui l’esperienza fisica, fatta di socialità reale, conti sempre di più fino al punto di ritornare ad essere importante nella vita personale di ognuno.
Stare insieme, vivere una esperienza in comune, torna ad essere centrale come valore, e mi viene da sorridere ricordando lo spazio all’interno del Roland Garros, in cui centinaia di persone stese su delle sedie a sdraio, si sono ritrovate unite a guardare la finale su un maxi schermo come tanti amici al bar.
Mi ha colpito questa scena perché ha mostrato come alla fine, in questo mondo digitale conta ancora l’uomo e la sua fisicità per rendere il momento unico e vivo.Passando poi al fatto puramente sportivo, questa per me è stata una occasione ancora più importante, perché ho potuto assistere alla mia prima finale femminile di un torneo del Grande Slam, dove l’australiana Ashleigh Barty ha vinto contro la cecoslovacca Marketa Vondrousova in due set per 6-1, 6-3.
Non sono una specialista del settore, e non posso dare giudizi tecnici, ma quello che posso raccontare è il suono della palla, colpita dalla racchetta, in cui si sentiva la maestria che le ha regalato a Barty la meritata vittoria che da essere la numero otto del mondo, ha raggiunto così il secondo posto della classifica mondiale.
